Public files
Make a bucket public and anyone with the link can download its files, with no key and no egress fees.
Turn it on
Open the bucket in the console and switch Public on (or tick it when you make the bucket). The console shows the bucket's web address:
https://my-site-k3x9qa.tport.space/
It's the bucket name, a short code that belongs to your account, and tport.space. A file at images/logo.png is at https://my-site-k3x9qa.tport.space/images/logo.png.
On the Free plan, public links need a card on file. It keeps the service clean for everyone; Free stays free.
Static sites
The address of the bucket and of any folder (a path ending in /) serves its index.html, so a built static site works as is: upload the folder and switch Public on.
aws s3 sync ./dist s3://my-site/ --endpoint-url https://s3.tport.space --profile tport
In the browser
Public files answer every website (Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *), so pages on other domains can load them with fetch, as fonts or in a video player. Range requests and conditional requests work, so video seeking and browser caching do too.
Turn it off
Switch Public off and the address stops answering at once (within about a minute where it's cached). Files stay in the bucket and keys keep working. Private files can still be shared one at a time with presigned links; see S3 tools and SDKs.
Rules
Public buckets are for your own content. No malware, phishing, or files you have no right to share; we take those down and may close the account. Downloads are free with no cap under fair use.
